An inspirational conversation about understanding and implementing the purposes God has for each of us.
Meet my dear friend, Kabwe Benaya, whom I got to know through her Bible Study Group in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada during Covid.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Kabwe started her group as a rookie in 2018 with DVD studies but felt God encouraging her to rely on the Word alone and allow the Holy Spirit to speak.
She heard God telling her He would help her and send her helpers. The group, averaging 10 online during the pandemic, has grown to around 40 of all ages and cultural backgrounds, meeting in person at Smythe Street Church, to explore the Scriptures together and share their diverse takeaways.
A GIFTED BIBLE TEACHER
Kabwe received her master’s degree in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2023. Her purpose in studying was to equip herself to help the women on their spiritual journeys.
She was one of six chosen to share a sermon before a live audience in Dallas at their conference, God Talks. She received feedback and a recording of her message on application, based on the Book of James. Kabwe says, “Application is not for information but for transformation.”
God’s Word brings change.
The ladies in Fredericton have embraced that and are living it out. “We don’t just talk about loving God and one another. Now that we know how, we have to do it.”
CONFERENCE IN SOUTHAMPTON
She is about to lead a Bible conference in Southampton, UK. This is in answer to prayer that the Lord would bring her back here, where she once lived, to help people reconnect with God. Her theme, anchored in Hebrews 12:1 is:
RESET, REFOCUS, REKINDLE
Reset your mind and heart /Refocus on your purpose/Rekindle your passion for God
How do we run the race with endurance that God has set before us, fixing our minds on Jesus, staying fuelled for the long haul? How can we blossom, whatever the season?
Her answer:
- Deepen our roots
- Widen our wings
There will be six separate sessions in Southampton, for church leaders, young people and women.
THE FUTURE
We are God’s masterpiece, destined to share our gifts for the common good. The impact we have radiates out through those we help, support, encourage.
“I went to Bible college to strengthen my walk with God and deepen my help to the women in my group.” Her training involved an internship, during which her supervising pastor accused her of ‘tunnel vision’. He saw what she was doing as a launch pad, to growing and going places she never imagined.
God has told her, “Run.” When she asked for a little more information, she heard, “Finish strong.” Kabwe has embraced God’s mission for her to help others run well and finish strong.
